Terms of Service

Last updated: 27 August 2026

These terms govern your use of the Philoi app. By creating an account, you agree to them. Please read them along with our Privacy Policy.

1. Eligibility

Philoi is for users 18 years of age or older. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement. We may suspend or terminate accounts we reasonably believe belong to someone under 18.

2. Your account

You’re responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your login secure. Provide accurate information when you sign up, and let us know if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. Your content

You own what you post — your check-in photos and notes, your campfire messages, your milestones, your journal notes, any gym clips you record, and your profile. By posting it, you grant Philoi a license to store and display that content to the people your own settings allow to see it, solely to operate the app. That license ends when you delete the content or your account. We don’t sell your content or use it for advertising.

Check-in photos are taken with the camera in the moment rather than uploaded from your library — Philoi is proof that you showed up. Don’t post a check-in that isn’t genuinely yours, and don’t pass off someone else’s work or session as your own.

Some of what you post carries an audience you choose — a milestone can be set to friends, your campus, or public, and your check-in photos can be limited to your campfires or opened to everyone. You control those settings, and widening one means more people can see that content.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Philoi to:

5. Reporting & moderation

You can report a check-in, a message, a profile or a whole campfire from the ··· menu on it, and you can block another user directly from their profile — blocking hides their content from you and yours from them. We review reports and may remove content, warn, suspend, or permanently ban accounts that violate these terms, at our discretion and without prior notice for serious violations.

6. Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. This removes your profile, lock-in sessions and check-ins, photos and gym clips, campfire memberships and messages, challenge history, milestones, journal notes, and progress — it can’t be undone.

Deletion is immediate in the app. The underlying records are erased from our production systems within 30 days and from encrypted backups within 90 days, as set out in section 9 of the Privacy Policy. Any embers or virtual items on the account are forfeited and are not refundable.

7. Purchases, embers & virtual items

Philoi sells two things through the App Store and Google Play: embers (the in-app currency) and the Forge Pass. Payment is handled by Apple or Google under their own terms; we never see your card details.

Embers and virtual items have no cash value. They are a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use them inside Philoi — not property, not a balance you own, and not redeemable for money. You may not sell, trade or transfer them outside the app.

Embers can also be earned by using the app. Earned and purchased embers are treated the same way once they are in your account.

Some items are sold or awarded through chance-based rewards. Where that is the case, the odds are disclosed in the app before you open one.

Purchases are final except where a refund is required by law or granted by Apple or Google under their own refund policies — refund requests go to the store you bought from, not to us. We may change the price of embers or the contents of the shop, and we may retire an item or a season, but items you already own stay in your account for as long as your account exists. If Philoi shuts down, unspent embers and unused items expire without compensation except where the law requires otherwise.

8. Disclaimers

Philoi is provided “as is.” We don’t guarantee that using Philoi will help you achieve any particular goal — the app is a tool for accountability, not a substitute for your own effort, and we make no warranties about uptime, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Philoi and its team are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Philoi if you violate these terms. You may stop using Philoi and delete your account at any time.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Philoi evolves. If we make a material change, we’ll ask you to re-confirm your acceptance in-app before you can keep using Philoi.
